I recently was messing around with the idea of having my gaming pc do some cryptocurrency mining when not in use after hearing of a 'friend' who was 'making about $40 a day' doing so. I figured that I have a pretty robust, water-cooled PC with dual R9 290X GPUs, so why not give it a try if there is potentially money to be made?
At first, I was experimenting with Litecoin, but quickly transitioned to Metaverse ETP, as it seemed more profitable. Long story short, I don't think there's really any money to be made doing this, at least with GPUs, as opposed to ASICs (I am consuming about 500-800 watts to see an ETP hash rate of 40-60 MH/s, depending on settings, with GPU temps in the upper 60C/low 70C range) but have accumulated a handful of Metaverse ETP coins in the process of conducting my trials and have no idea how to cash out. Does anybody here know of a way to exchange the cryptocurrency for USD?
I have seen exchanges that offer this service for BTC and LTC, but can't seem to find anything for ETP. The only exchange I did find, OpenLedger, seems to cite an exchange rate of 3533 ETP to 1 USD, while most other places cite a 2.5-3. BridgeCoin BCO Mining Roi. 25 USD to ETP exchange rate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the link. Just sold my first coins (on Open Ledger DEX for 1.99 USD/ETP and 3.14 USD/ETP in separate transactions)!
I had been playing with my accounts on a few exchanges and reading forums intermittently since my last post and figured things out. I think that now, for the most part, i understand the basics of mining, storing, and converting currencies, at least enough to get me started. Part of my problem this afternoon was that Bitfenix (i think that's the name), which seemed like one of the larger/more reputable exchanges, doesn't seem to be allowing individual users from the USA to trade on their exchange anymore. At that point, my only option seemed to be Open Ledger, which sometimes wasn't auto filling share sell prices and was sometimes filling them with odd values, like the 3500 or so etp to usd rate mentioned in my original post that i thought indicated the current exchange rate. I guess i probably shouldn't have picked a coin that isn't traded on most of the popular exchanges as my first, but i didn't think of that as a potential issue at the time; i had assumed that all alt-coins were fairly liquid assets that could easily be converted to USD for a pretty set price at any given time, like traditional stocks. After playing around with Open Ledger's interface a bit, i found an 'advanced' mode and switched to it from their default 'basic' mode and things got easier for me. In 'advanced' mode, I was able to see charts with realtime pricing and trading volume information instead of just a list of currencies and things made a lot more sense.
At that point, I made a few small test transactions just to get the hang of things. Wound up selling some shares of metaverse ETP to a buyer for his ask of 1.99 USD/ETP, which went through pretty much instantly, and made an open offer for sale at 3.14 USD/ETP, which wound up being accepted a few hours later. Thanks again for the link, i hadn't come across that site yet. • • • • • • •.
