I believe in the SuperNET ecosystem and I'm an early adopter of Komodo. I mean it's an old school coin. Write Your Own Emercoin EMC Miner. Not a token which is based on another technology like the most of the new projects.
They have a great team and a lead developer who is not unknown in the crypto community. So I don't think it's a mayfly. Furthermore they have promising new features which could also help other crypto currencies. The SuperNET ecosystem is an enrichment of the whole crypto currency sphere and Komodo is the fuel of it. But this is just my own opinion. You can do your own research, e.g.
On the Komodo website or in the Bitcointalk thread. It's a fork of Zcash.
But the most 'old school' coins are forks. Another thing are tokens (e.g. BAT, OMG, STAT, GNT, TenX, Qtum.). They are built on top of an existing blockchain (for example ETH). I try to explain the difference in a non-tech way: I want to build a Superhuman. Now I'm taking the DNA from a healthy person (cloning) and modify the DNA, so that the new Superhuman has 3 arms, 2 heads and a green skin. That's a fork.
Because I copied the base DNA and I modified it in many ways. Another way is to take a real person and transplant a third arm and a second head to him and injecting some chemicals to get his skin green. That's a token. I know this example is lame. But I hope you understand the difference a little bit.
